The Great Adventure Began

Anne Marie, Louis, Claire, Robert, Bill, Sheri, Rebecca, Pierre: They are all here at Campi ya Kanzi.  They were welcomed by an amazing full moon last night.  Just look at how Kili appeared in the moonlight:

Three days at Campi ya Kanzi marked the beginning of our air adventure.  Wildlife highlight: a nice leopard last evening.  Best surprise?  Cave dinner tonight...

Tomorrow morning, we leave to the Serengeti.  We look forward to flying into the Rift Valley over the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti Plains.

The flying giraffe, or LLJ (for Lorenzo, Lucrezia, and Jacopo), has received an amazing upgrade: a glass cockpit.  Here I was getting familiar with it:

So our wheels go up tomorrow at 7 a.m.  We have a 6,800-mile journey ahead of us....  Can't wait to fly it after all the preparation.

Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and finally back to Kenya...  Here we come!

Want to follow us?  You can track our flying here!

And check out the map below to see where we plan to fly.

We will try to keep the blog updated at every stop, but we will obviously be limited by internet access.  We will see tomorrow if some wildebeest can help to transmit the message...
